These 5 Things are Big for Your Little Ones!

Ami Ciccone Jun 05, 2020

Moms are hard on themselves sometimes, and doubt whether they’re doing parenting right or not. But fret not! Let’s take a look at the five everyday-things making all the difference in your kids’ lives.

Pretend Play with Books

Pretend play can have great power over kids and their behavior. A study in Japan showed how it could even affect their choices by staging a library hunt with stuffed animals. The kids were told how their favorite stuffies went in search of books, and this, in turn, made them develop a liking to books. Which even made them read to their toys!

Considering the heap of benefits from reading, this is one of the best things you can do to ensure your little one finds his way in the world.

Snuggles & Cuddles

There’s no such thing as too many cuddles for your baby. A sample of adults in a developmental science survey revealed that the ones who got extra love and care during childhood grew up having secure attachment styles and more compassion. They were also less prone to anxiety.

Take a Vacation

A family trip or even a simple family picnic might be etched in your kid’s memory far longer than you’d think. British research found how adults comb through their childhood memories, to find relief in the present, and these good times will shine through as ‘happiness anchors’ to keep them grounded.

Staycations Matter

Giving them attention when you’re in the house goes a long way too. A bedtime story or a small chat to know how school was, strengthens your bond with your child and makes them less susceptible to drug problems and behavior issues in their teens. Including them in minor household chores or cooking can help them feel more valued and appreciated as well.

Selfie Time is Always Happy

We bet your favorite pics in the gallery are the ones with your babies in cute puppy dog filters! Either way, these mommy-and-me sessions are always happy and give them positive affirmation about you. It also makes them have a positive self-perception. So those selfies aren’t a waste of time after all.

It’s both scary and amazing to know that these little things have the wonder-working power to shift our children’s lives. But now you know what can actually help them. So take note, practice, and be ready to receive a ‘Best Mom’ accolade in the future!
