The human species is accustomed to neglecting things until something goes wrong. And that is especially true when it comes to health (at least that’s what most people do!). But we agree, that’s generalizing it way too much. So let’s get down to the specifics.

When was the last time you looked away from your laptop or smartphone screen and closed your eyes for a couple of seconds to give them a much needed break? We bet 8 out of 10 people won’t have an answer to that, but they’ll probably have a slight smile on their faces.

It’s easy to neglect your eye health until it becomes an issue. If your eyes start getting dry after a long day of work in front of the screen, or suddenly your vision gets blurred while reading fine texts, you need to question yourself! Are you taking appropriate care of your eyesight? Neglecting these minute symptoms at an early stage can easily lead to more severe and bizarre conditions; there are chances you might end up losing your vision too.

Make sure your meals are loaded with green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, non-meat protein sources (dry fruits & seeds), and oily fish. A balanced diet will promote a healthy lifestyle as well as lower your chances of being obese and having type 2 diabetes that’s one of the most major causes of blindness in adults.

#2 – Be mindful of your screen time

Looking right into your computer, television, or phone screen for a long time can cause numerous problems and lead to degradation of vision. It can promote lack of concentration, blurry eyesight, headaches, dry eyes, back pain, and much more.

In order to avoid all that, make sure you wear protective glasses that act as a barrier between the screen and your eyes, minimize the brightness levels of your screen, take breaks in equal intervals, and if still there’s no relief, it’s highly advised to consult a physician.

#3 – Make regular visits to your eye doctor

Every individual, be it adult or child, needs regular eye examination after every 6 months. It helps in detecting any symptoms that might lead to problems in the future. Only with the help of an eye exam, a doctor can identify the likelihood of diseases like glaucoma that portray no symptoms at all. It’s important to get hold of such complications in the very beginning so that treatment can be provided on an early basis.
