You may only know Joe Rogan as the host of the highly popular podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’. What you may not realize though is that the comedian has been in the entertainment scene way before that.
Long-time mixed-martial-arts fans would recognize the 53-year-old from his stint as a backstage interviewer for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) games. He surely didn’t forget about his past as he incorporated his passion for the combat sport into his career as a podcaster.
Merging Two Passions
When he built his podcast studio, Rogan made the unexpected addition of a gym in the 14,000-square-foot warehouse he hosts his program from. Combining his two passions in one place, the podcaster described his studio gym as a ‘dream come true’ in one Instagram post.
The gym was reportedly furnished by Rogue Fitness, which supplied Rogan with everything from punching bags to pull up bars. Safe to say, the mixed-martial-arts fan can train and maintain his impressive skills almost anytime he wants without leaving his workplace.
And it looks like he isn’t living this convenience behind with his recent move from Los Angeles to Texas as he’s already set up a new home gym with the help of Sorinex.
Before the ‘Experience’
Looking back on Rogan’s long career, he made his debut as a comedian in the ‘90s when he appeared on ‘Half-Hour Comedy Hour’ and eventually acted on the sitcom ‘Hardball’.
He would find his way into the UFC backstage in 1997 as a post-fight interviewer and later on as a color commentator alongside play-by-play commentator Mike Goldberg. Rogan also scored a stint as the host of ‘Fear Factor’.
Rogan returned to his stand-up comedy roots in 2016 and 2018 with two Netflix-produced comedy specials.
Podcast King
While his previous jobs gave the host some level of notoriety, it’s the success of his podcast that really put him on the map. Over a decade since airing its first episode, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ continues to draw in avid listeners who tune in several times a week to be entertained by Rogan’s hilarious and sometimes heated discussions with guests.
The podcast has had a long list of celebrities and other high-profile personalities on the show propelling it to become one of the most popular podcasts on iTunes. Rogan recently inked a licensing deal with Spotify for a reported $100 million, which would give the streaming platform exclusive airing rights to the podcast.
Rogan retains full creative control over the show.
