We have spoken of several people who may have classified as the filthy rich at some time or the other. We have also spoken about their extravagant habits and the luxurious homes they are living in. Today we are going to discuss a few names that had to deal with plenty of filth before being acknowledged as some of the filthy rich. These are the stories of individuals that did not have an inheritance to speak about and only made it to the position they currently are because of their efforts.
This does not mean that the other rich people in the world received everything on a platter. These people just stand apart because they came from poor backgrounds but managed to beat the odds to be classified as the poor people that managed to become rich in life. Let us now look at some of these individuals who are among us and are perhaps part of our lives.

Howard Shultz
Howard Shultz is the CEO of Starbucks who began life in a housing complex for the poor and Howard neither had the money or any favorable stars working for him. It was his belief that he could achieve something beyond what was being imagined by people that were driving him. He had a scholarship at the University of Northern Michigan and a job at Xerox before he finally took over a small time coffee shop and expanded it into a brand with 16,000 outlets throughout the globe proving that it was his belief that led him to the top.
Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey is a survivor of a sexual assault began her life humble beginnings in Mississippi before going on to host one of the top-rated chat shows on TV. She also became one of the richest Afro-Americans of the 20th century. Oprah has a reputation for doing things her own way regardless of whether she was attending Tennessee State University, working on the journalism scene of America where people from Afro-American origins are difficult to find our radio jockeying. She definitely achieved what she wanted to be despite arriving on the scene from a humble and difficult background.
Shahid Khan
Shahid is a classic example of the rags to riches story and is the owner of one of the largest private company in the US. He began by attending the University of Illinois where he was required to wash dishes and is one of the richest men in the world today.
Do Won Chang
Do from Korea started his career in the US by managing three jobs simultaneously and the only reason he had to do so because he wanted to make ends meet.
Things are usually a bit for people from Asia who are trying to settle in the US but Chang and his wife had more plans. The couple opened a clothing store which is presently going by the name “Forever 21.” Do isn’t 21 now but the brand name resembles like a leaf of-of his life.

Dhirubhai Ambani
This man’s life is a case study particularly in the part of the world he was living in. He started life by doing odd jobs and even working at a gas station but managed to strike it rich from nowhere. After educating himself on the nuances of petrochemicals and the textile industries he returned to India from Aden to establish his first textile mill from where there was no looking back. He was known as the polyester Prince of India and ultimately went on to establish one of the best renowned industrial groups within India The Reliance Industries. His sons presently manage various departments of the business and have expanded widely and are known as the most successful industrialists of the country.
Ralph Lauren
Advice on fashion provided by a college dropout, and ex-Army man or a clerk would not sound fashionable to anyone but Ralph has been doing just that over the last five decades. Ralph Lauren is the founder of the most famous apparel line in the world and he discovered his objective for life when he was attracted by men’s ties. The world can perhaps thank him for making his discovery.
These are a few individuals who began life with nothing in their possession but managed to join the list of rich individuals simply by virtue of their hard work.
